Beautiful Morning At Bedlam Farm, Monday, August 12, 2024. Zip, Spider Webs, Apples From The Trees

by Jon Katz

It’s a relief to know it won’t be brutally hot every day this winter. Some days, it doesn’t even rain. We’re having a beautiful weather streak, and we appreciate it.

The mist on our mountain was beautiful.

Maria and Zinnia went out hunting for spiderwebs. They found a bunch.

They were grazing right after sunrise.

We picked apples for the sheep and donkeys who couldn’t reach them.

We burned Zip’s wooden fortress over the weekend. We are building another won for him so he can stare at Alvin.

Maria’s Good Monday Morning Video From Bedlam Farm

by Jon Katz

We had a quiet and beautiful weekend at the farm, as hoped for. We rarely went out or talked to anyone else, and it was sweet. This morning, we returned to our usual routine; Maria was out early tossing the manure around. The heavy rains have absorbed the manure into the pasture soil, which will be great for next year’s grass. Welcome to another week of being grateful for what we have.

My cataract surgery is scheduled for next week.

Flower Art, August 11, 2024. A Gladiola Festival. I Bought Three, Got Two For Free.

by Jon Katz

I went to the Farmer’s Market today to get one of Edwin’s $1.50 Gladiolas. He had several more for sale at his vegetable stand. Maria gave me $15 to buy several as a birthday present. As it was, I got five for five dollars, and It two for free.

I told Edwin he was undercharging for them. He said he was just a bit crazy. I had no answer for that.

I love these flowers, and I brought them home in front of the sun. I hope they enjoyed it (you too) as much as I did.  It was a joy to take these pictures.
I look forward to seeing you in the morning.

The Army Of Good Is An Army Of Joy As Well. Today, Mexican Dressings Day For The Cambridge Food Pantr

by Jon Katz

I love the Army of Good and am so proud of it. I realize that it is also an Army of Joy. We don’t blame people for being poor or struggling; we help them.

We don’t hate young immigrants who are different; we raise money for them to go to college. We don’t forget older people; we ensure they have warm clothes, toothpaste, and shoes.

There is much joy in helping others. It feels so much better than hating and arguing.

This weekend, we have another chance to do good.

For the first time in the Cambridge Food Pantry’s history, we’re seeking to get Mexican food dressings onto their shelves. They are much in demand, but food pantries rarely stock them. Sarah suggested them as the weekend support idea.

Pace Medium Red Enchilada Sauce, 10.5 oz Can by Pace, $1.58.

Chunky Salsa Medium, 24 oz Jar, $3.48.

You can also purchase these or browse the other Cambridge Food Pantry Wish List items.

You can always access the Wish List, which is updated several times a day (at least), by clicking on the green Cambridge Food Pantry button at the bottom of every blog post (below). If Sarah receives enough donations of an item, she removes it from the list and adds something else that is needed.
