Maria and I talk a lot about creativity, especially as it has shaped our lives, helped us be healthy, and guided us to our bliss. Our creativity was born out of our childhood, as most creativity is. Come and see us talking openly about our lives together; it’s a pretty good story if I say so myself.

Video, This Is Us: Our Lives Together On Bedlam Farm: Where Does Creativity Come From?

After my son died by suicide in 2010 I thought I would always be grief-stricken and could never be happy again. It took a long time, a lot of soul-searching and a willingness to be vulnerable and tender. Today Terry lives in my heart, I will always miss him, and my life is filled with love joy and purpose. My creativity focuses on listening to, holding space for and embracing people who need a safe and supportive space to find themselves and rediscover their bliss.
I love your Friday videos and this one especially stood out for me. I do not have a creative bent but I have always straddled two worlds…one of seeing, and calling things out, just as they are (the emperor has no clothes), and having an over-developed sense of empathy that would leave me crying every minute if I let it.
I have had to find balance in both, since both are who I am. It’s taken me 82 years to do a lot of selective blending, but I’m finally getting the hang of it. Your video presented a tutorial of sorts. Thank you.

I am really glad that you two have decided to do these Friday conversations. I have been reading your blog, Jon, for many years and your books before that. Through you I have been introduced to Maria, her art made in the studio and the art of her life on the farm. I marvel at how both of you understand and value animals, nature, and taking care of the natural world. From your blogs I have gotten insight and inspiration, but hearing you talk together about your lives and perspectives adds another layer of appreciation for what you share with us. Thank you.
