Every morning, when Maria goes into the barn to feed or check on the White Hen, they talk to one another, which has fascinated me from the beginning of this experience. The White Hen has something to say to Maria, and Maria speaks back. I can’t say I know what either of them is saying, but it feels warm and loving to me, and the White Hen has something to say to her. It might be about food or the moon in the sky. I don’t know.
