Zip is ready for the storm. Nothing seems to faze him.
If it’s zero or above, he’s out and hunting. He comes out briefly if it’s below zero and then holes up in his heated Cat House. Sometimes, he moves over to the blankets up in the woodshed. Yesterday, Maria caught this image of Zip sitting in sunlight in the barn, a beautiful scene. Tonight, either 10 inches or two depending on the weather service you read or the time of day. I’m betting on six or seven inches. It’s been very cold here for weeks, and I’d like it to be warmer.
The social media Yentas will be up early monitoring people’s thermometer readings for accuracy. Thank God someone is watching. I bet they don’t go outside.
I did go outside briefly for the morning photos. We’ll go into town for more supplies and hole up for whatever comes. Later this afternoon, I’ll dive into the new Anne Tyler Book, Three Days in June. Next is Tana French Murder Squad, Volume Two. I’m ready for the snow. I’m checking out early today. I hope you can stay warm and off the news.
There’s a Scottish sheepherder who has a feed I follow. He talked about his working dogs living outside in order to promote the growth of their undercoat so they can withstand all kinds of weather. This got me thinking about Zip and other mammals. Of course, it is best for them to live outside so they are acclimatized to all weather. It makes sense. He obviously thrives in his life. Love your posts and Maria’s.
Zip does
Have a heated cat house I doubt that most of the Scottish sheep have anything like that
Love how the light dances in Zip’s coat! Beautiful photograph, Jon!
