I’ve been writing about my fascination with Maria communicating with an old and sick hen all week. I’ve also been writing about human-animal communications, but this is new. Maria thinks the hen is saying she is comfortable, but it feels more profound than that to me. Could you come and see for yourself? I put on my bathrobe this morning and went out with Maria to take this video. The ice was treacherous, but it was worth it.
We’ve never seen her talk like this before, looking both of us in the eyes.
White Hen is eleven years old; she was our most imperious hen and disappeared for five days in brutal cold, ice, rain, and snow. When she finally appeared, we both thought she was dying. Maria picked her up and put together a safe, protected home with warm water, hay and straw, and plenty of food. The White Hen has returned to life, eating heartily and cooing softly when Maria appears. As far as we are concerned, this is her home for life, however long or short.
Below, Maria recorded a conversation with the White Hen this afternoon.
Thank you for giving this ol’ gal a nice retirement. We have an ancient chicken (11 y.o.) who is the last of three, and now has the entire coup to herself, and gets all the grubs turned up in our gardens. She fed us breakfast for many years, so, like your old white gal, she deserves a life of comfort and luxury.
Appreciate you sharing in real time hens story…ingoing. it is inspiribg, cinfirting.
Reminding me how love and compassion are always present.
PS I only heard the sheep, donkeys and the birds ‘talking’ ☺️☺️
Love the interaction of Maria and White Hen. She is a very lucky White Hen and you all are so kind to her. A way to thank her for all the eggs that have fed you over the years.
What lively sounds in your barn. Love you Maria! You are such a lovely soul
