My dogs know how to start the morning with joy. This is my greeting coming out of the shower every morning. Bud is the treat chairman; he reminds me there is a treat waiting for them every morning when I go out of the shower. He is happy to see me, of course, also…:)
I can’t think of a better way to climb out of the shower and be greeted by the tail wags, thumps, barks, and cheers of the Bedlam Farm Morning Treat Brigade. It’s impossible not to get up smiling; it is a command. We would have much to learn from them if only Labs, Border Collies, and Terries entered Congress. Why don’t we know it?
Jon,
I came to visit your Bedlam after reading “Rose in a Storm.” I had to come out and see first-hand all the joy and hardship and life a city guy could carve for himself in a beautiful sea of not quite verdant pasture. We walked across the road to a more level pasture where Rose showed off her herding instincts and used her tail like a propeller.
I wrote about my visit in The Saratogian and commenced to read everything of yours I could get my hands on. Thank you for sharing your amazing world and your profound love for animals. I have my own dog now, a rescue named Ernie. He’s a little Puerto Rican with a huge heart. I could not read past the intro of “Coming Home” without bawling. Thank you.
I so enjoyed the dogs greeting you after your shower. Bud is definitely the cheerleader and vocal. Bud is so sweet. The girls smile and let him do the talking:)
