I ordered two young Callie lilies from California so I’d have something else to photograph during the dark days. I’m storing up. Now I understand why Georgia O’Keeffe loved photographing and painting them so much.
“What is my experience of the flower if not color?” she said, explaining her love of Calla Lillies.
It’s the only quote about Calli Lillies I could find from the artist who made them famous. These photos of my two new calla lilies are an extraordinary example of why I love floral compositions of sweeping, broad waves of subtly blended hues.
That’s just why I love them. I just took these photos this afternoon, and I can’t wait to watch them grow inside with my others.
I love every one of these lilies, the broad waves of subtly blended hues. How lucky I am to sit by a woodstove and take a picture of something so gracious and beautiful. I’m a lucky person.

Your words, your thoughts and your photos…….are bringing me a great gift……greater than you can imagine…..(but you most likely CAN) as I begin to emerge from my protective cocoon. I may not comment often……but I am here, as I have been for as long as you have been……and I *know* you and Maria are there

Thanks Susan been thinking of you
I love your calla photos, Jon. Callas are mysterious, soft and beautiful. I love their lines and shapes. I look forward to your flower photos, especially now in these dark and very cold days.
Thanks Karla
