Snowy Afternoon, Cold On The Way. Zip Loves His New Heated Pad

by Jon Katz

A vast storm is breaking south of us, and there is snow and wind here. I just went outside for a break walk to check on things, as I do in storms. This one is pretty beautiful, as most of them are.

The big news is that Zip loves his heat pad, now inserted into the former heated cat house. He came in and out all day, but when it got chilly, I found him sleeping and coming out to say hello. This makes me feel good. It will be a very bold week, and while I know he can handle it, I’ll feel better knowing the heated pad is there.

I haven’t gotten to my reading portion of the day yet, maybe soon.

The hens came out to perch under the bird feeder and pick off the fallen feed.

Dinner in the snow.

I love the back pasture in the snow.

After eating, the donkeys like to get under shelter from the snow, if possible.

The sheep and mountain animals pay no attention to snow.

  1. Beautiful photographs Jon!
I trying an electric heat pad for one of my cats but it auto shuts off after an hour. How does your heat pad work for Zip? If you have a moment to share what kind you are using, thank you!

    1. Look up k&h pet heating pads. Amazon or chewy. They’re great, all different sizes and they only activate when cat is on them.
