As it says in the title, this is a record I wanted to make and keep to show the remarkable energy, compassion, hard labor, friendship, and community. It took a lot of beating hearts to make these pictures.
There was also a lot of packing, unpacking, and shelving. We had 25,000 pounds of donated food, and we are moving up a lot this week. It wasn’t a small miracle, but a big one. I would hate to forget it. I’m not sure I ever saw or felt anything about the people who rush to get a small pantry in upstate New York back on its cold feet.
I don’t know how many people will see or remember what I saw in the past few weeks, but I am proud and committed to making a record that will last forever in the hearts and minds of good people.
This is dedicated to them – Sarah, her volunteers, you, the Army Of Good, the hungry and frightened – and the people with nowhere else to go. Photos never lie, and they rarely die. We did it all together. Let’s remember it.
Blessed to be a blessing! So happy for Sarah and her volunteers and the people who will be able to eat and feed their families! Here’s to a healthy, happy New Year!
