Sue is one of those people who always give thanks to others, but countless people are grateful for her marvelous work with her art classes and many years of teaching. She is one of those teachers her students never forget and often come to visit. That says a lot. I give thanks to Sue, a wonderful friend and fantastic teacher. Thanks for supporting her work; we all give thanks for that. The beautiful drawing above is by 7th Grade Trinity, one of Sue’s Students at Bishop Gibbons, Schenectady, New York- Jon.

News From The Art Class, November 18, 2024
As I sit here with my family today and watch the giant white snowflakes (forecast to rain) cover the landscape, I know I have much to be thankful for and am fortunate.
For those following along, November has had its fair share of bumps. That said, I am blessed. My car is fixed and back in my driveway (after a month), and my health issues are slowly but surely improving every day. The ceiling fan in my dining room caught fire last night, but we were all home to hear the alarm sound.
We got an electrician who took it down and disabled the wires on the evening before Thanksgiving, so we were safe. The bottom line? I have a car, a house, electricity, medical insurance, and access to care. So many people out there have nothing. I have no complaints.
I am thankful for my family, friends, fellow teachers, and the many people who make up the fabric of my life.
I am thankful for Jon and Maria. For almost eight years, they have been an excellent source of love, generosity, and selfless friendship.
I am thankful for my students, past and present. Several of my former BMHS students have checked in to report good news in their lives. I love to hear from them. They are in love, have new jobs, and are doing well in school. I even got an emergency text from one of my Karen refugee kids asking for help with alternate street parking regulations. I adore that 8 years later, their thought process still includes texting Mrs. S for help!
I am incredibly thankful for the Army of Good. All of us at NDBG are blessed by the kindness and generosity you have shown our students for all these years—strangers who have become trusted friends. We are so grateful for every contribution, supply purchased from a wish list, food donation, cherished belongings to be repurposed, a trip to the post office, drive to the school to drop off donations, supportive message, letter, and email.
Many of you have been with us the whole time and are as much a part of student’s lives as I am. It seems like there is not enough to say, but we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
I will save my usual individual shout-outs for weekly donations until next week. Today is for all of you! Please accept our wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving from us here at NBBG. You are in our prayers of thanks each day.
No matter how you spend the day, know that you are appreciated more than words express.
If you have extra stuffing for pillows around the house, it goes fast during gift-making seasons! We always seek donations for anything you feel could be made into something new: rolled gauze, wire, glassware, canvas, art supplies, heavy foil, pinecones, glue sticks, seashells, sea glass, bottle corks, sandpaper, and wood. Holiday Items!!!!!
I love hearing from you. My email is [email protected].
Have a blessed day!
