Sunday Afternoon, Bedlam Farm. Some Thoughts On Planting The Right Seeds

by Jon Katz

Here are some photos and thoughts from today on bad seeds.

I am disengaging from the shock and fear of the November election.  I’m feeling grounded and in peace.

Negativity is always present on all sides, but very positive seeds also exist—the seeds of compassion, tolerance, and love. Our next President will never seek my advice or pay attention to it.

Still, I feel moved as a citizen and patriot to say that what disturbs me most about the election—and I won’t wallow in it—is the idea that one of our two political parties is acting more like an invading Army bristling with threats, warnings, grievances and contempt than a body that wants to govern for us all and improve all of our lives.

I hope the President and his loyal followers and advisers consider not treating half of the country like Vikings storming ashore looking for people to punish and enslave but as leaders have sworn to take all of us into account, seeking to uplift us rather than scare us. Conquest rather than leadership only works for a short time.  When a President fails, everybody fails. Leaders plant the right seeds and watch them grow.

Frightened people become tomorrow’s enemies.

Fate at sleep.
