I was at the Cambridge Pantry yesterday when the people who put the Backpacks together (weekend energy and vitamins for the 67 children who need good food to eat over the weekend when schools are closed) realized they were out of two critical Backpack foods: Ramen Noodles and Cereal.
These are staples of the food the children need to eat when their own pantries run out and their families are out of food, money, and lunch programs. The pantry is experiencing record-breaking traffic and has restricted its visitors to people and families who live in their district. Pantry patrons need to show IDs showing that they don’t live outside of the district.
The backpack makers have almost everything else they need help with for these two items. Please help if you can. Remember, the Pantry Amazon Wish List can be accessed and used daily and every day of the week. Click the link or green button at the bottom of every blog post. I had to sound alarms, but this is important to the children. Thanks for considering it; you have been a mainstay and lifesaver for this program. The 67 bags were put together again a week from yesterday. Gas prices – especially inflation – have been going down, and food prices are still high and sometimes rising.
