This is the second video in my new series of small but meaningful moments at Bedlam Farm via video. I never planned this or trained the dogs to do it, but it tells me a lot about how they can relate to their humans, especially in the quiet. I come into the house every afternoon for a 10-15 minute meditation.
I never figured the dogs would want to join me, but they did. When I sit down to think, rest, and find peace in our turbulent world, the dogs come inside with me, take their positions up on our carpet or dog’s beds, and sleep. They all sit quietly until I stir from my chair. They never make a sound.
Dogs know how to meditate; they do it all the time. In my experience, they rarely get to do it with their humans. We often teach them how to do everything but nothing, and this is often the sweetest part of having a dog. This makes my meditation teacher and helps me stay calm and grounded.
Wow. Dogs sleep. What a revelation. You are truly reaching now.
Jen, I’m sad to read this. If you were a blog reader or knew me, you would know that I and many of my readers get great love, healing, and peace from being with our dogs, cats, and other animals in this way. Perhaps you’ll experience this one day rather than getting your pleasure out of writing snarky messages to strangers you know nothing about. I can’t express my joy from meditating with mine and the peace it brings me. It is much more pleasurable than spending my time peeing in other people’s gardens. I can’t imagine using my time on the earth in that way. Best to you.
Beautiful. Nothing makes me happier than to chill out with my dog.
Thanks, Rose; every time I look at them, I smile.
I so enjoy this meditation. The dogs are so relaxed and at peace. that is how I feel when I am with my dogs: love and peace Jon.
Peace is the right word. Thanks Marsha.
