Look, Mother, I Can See You. My New Computer Glasses, We Are Already Good Friends

by Jon Katz

The term “I Can See You” comes from a Taylor Swift song she wrote but never published for personal reasons. This seems fitting today; I went today to pick up my new subscription classes while wearing a Twist ‘tis the damn season” cap.

Today marks the end of the very successful surgery which brought color and clarity back to me. As you might imagine, this is helpful for flower photography or any photography.

I got the $640 glasses to use when I’m on the computer, which happens daily in this blogger’s life. This marks the end of a successful and quite amazing cataract surgery that gave me 20-20 vision back and brought me back into the world of beautiful colors, which were fading for me.

I need these glasses for two reasons: working the computer and reading books close at hand. Otherwise, I no longer need glasses at all, but I wear my over-the-counter bifocals if I wish and may need to look more closely at a car dashboard. I don’t need them outside or for any normal driving.

I can hardly believe how quickly and easily the two surgeries went—one eye at a time, three months apart. I still have issues with a blinding sign or LED car lights at night. Sunglasses take care of the first. I might get one of those French Foreign Legion caps for taking flowers in the sun; it gets too bright, even after the surgery.

I love the glasses they make looking at a computer easier, more precise and more comfortable than ever.
