There are few more challenging times for food-deprived families than being unable to afford Thanksgiving Dinner. Many families who come to the pantry hoping for help have experienced this.
The Pantry and its donors supply frozen turkeys, and the Army Of Good supplies canned turkey gravy, canned Turkey Stuffing, and Cranberry Juice. We make a beautiful team.
It’s important to note that these items cost less than $2, making it a manageable and impactful donation.
At midnight last night, we needed 28 orders of Cranberry Juice, 166 cans of Turkey Gravy (it began at 300), and 34 cans of stuffing. We are very close, and I’m buying three at once; if we can all do that (well under $10), we can make sure that every child of a pantry family and his or her parents will get their Turkey Dinner complete on November 21.
We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming response to this appeal, which Pantry Director Sarah Harrington describes as the biggest order response in their history.
All that we need:
Campbell’s Turkey Gravy, 10.5 Oz Can, $1.99. We need 214 additional cans
Fresh, Regular Jellied Cranberry Sauce, 14 Oz, $158. We need 64 more cans now.
Fresh Stuffing Mix Turkey Flavor, 6 Oz. $1.59, we need 61 additional boxes.
Boy, am I proud of that and of you. It feels much better to do good than to fight about what good is. Let’s go the rest of the way. There are just 228 items to go. No kid should ever have to worry about getting a Thanksgiving dinner.
This will be a drive-through distribution for members only. On the two quietest online traffic days – Saturday and Sunday—the Army of Goods sent more than half the needed items. We can do the rest soon; the Pantry Giveaway will be on November 21. The pantry is providing the frozen turkeys.
I will post the results daily, a countdown, every day. These three Thanksgiving Giveaway items will remain on the Pantry Wish List until we send all 600.
You can access the list any time with any link today or via the green pantry food button at the bottom of every blog post.
I’ll post these items daily (and two other list requests below). Sarah will continue choosing two popular items a day that are no longer on her shelves. Here are two for today and tomorrow:
Again, the items we still need to save Thanksgiving for these families:
Campbell’s Turkey Gravy, 10.5 Oz Can, $1.99. We need 214 additional cans
Fresh, Regular Jellied Cranberry Sauce, 14 Oz, $158. We need 64 more cans now.
Fresh Stuffing Mix Turkey Flavor, 6 Oz. $1.59, we need 61 additional boxes.
Thanksgiving was meant to be a holiday of gratitude; at this moment, that is what it is for us. Let’s take it all the way, give these children their Thanksgiving, and show our gratitude for compassion and life.
The following “Countdown” will be later on today. See you then.
