Flower Art, Monday, October 14, 2024. At The End Of The Day, Thanks For Life. Exhaustion Is Good For Me.

Georgia O’Keeffe:” In the course of my research, a woman who was confident and troubled emerged. I reevaluated the suppositions of previous biographers to discover a woman who, contrary to general opinion, was not born with naturally fierce independence and indomitable creativity. In fact, O’Keeffe’s life was characterized by great suffering, professional and emotional setbacks, and good fortune and the wisdom to take advantage of it. Like many great artists, O’Keeffe was not thrilled with the truth of her story and took pains to disguise her past.” — Hunter Driohojowska- Philp.

Today was a holiday, but it’s never really a holiday on a farm or in our lives; I spent the afternoon experimenting with my flower photos. I was happy with the results.  I hope you are, too. This is good hard work, but I am exhausted every day, like a farmer plowing a field (only that is harder).

But it’s also satisfying. Creativity is full of emotional and other setbacks; you keep going if you want to make it all the way—or even half the way. At the end of the day, M and I share utter exhaustion, and we love every second of it.

Tomorrow, I have a good friend, Pastor Ron Dotson, from Ohio, visiting. I’m taking him out to lunch, and then we’ll have him for dinner on Thursday. Tomorrow, I’m taking him to the Cambridge Food Pantry on a tour. He comes once a year; I’m not sure why, but it is easier for me to talk with him than with any man I’ve ever met. I will be a bit distraught tomorrow, but I’ll be in touch. Here is my work today.
