Flower Art, October 2, 2024

I decided to accept as true my thinking...”

Someone else’s vision will never be as good as your vision of yourself. Live and die with it because, in the end, it’s all you have. Lose it, and you lose yourself and everything else. I should have listened to myself.”

–  Both comments by Georgia O’Keeffe to interviewers.

A few years ago, I felt that strangers on the Internet were eating my vision alive, trying to tell me what to do and who to be. I was too confused and uncertain to ignore them.

I learned to accept my vision and my thinking as the truth. I never felt freer than when I decided to be free of other people’s visions of me.

I did listen to myself, and just in the nick of time.

It nearly destroyed me.  I never imagined having one single thing in common with Georgia O’Keeffe. I have a few things in common.

This afternoon, I was playing professional photographer, going on a mystical, fantasyland trek with my new photo studio light, preparing for the dark days not too far away. I enjoyed playing with the light stand’s height, angle, and strength of color. I learned a lot and have a lot to learn.

These are the first photos taken inside with the help of my new $120 Canadian photo studio light. For me, open experimentation is the key to true creativity.

I look forward to seeing you in the morning.

  1. Love the beautiful details!!! I’m glad you didn’t listen to the naysayers, you have grown so much as a photographer and I always look forward to your flower art! Thank you for sharing!!!

  2. The banner at the top with the marigold contrasting with whatever the purple is is my favorite, but they are all lovely. Thank you for sharing your vision with us!
