“I think it’s so foolish for people to want to be happy. Happy is so momentary – you’re happy instantly, and then you start thinking again. Interest is the most important thing in life; happiness is temporary, but interest is continuous.” — Georgia O’Keeffe.
See you in the morning. Today marks the first test of my new photo laboratory light, designed to offer light on cold and dark days. I plan to post flower photos every day, most new and some from my growing archives. I love the light and think I can do some great things with it. Today marks my first shot at it. I have a lot to learn about light, but it’s great fun to find some.
From O’Keeffe’s photograph, I didn’t get the sense she had much fun towards the end of her life but lots of interest in many things. I am happy towards the end of my life, yet my interest in things grows and grows. I know what she means.

Preparing for the dark days. They won’t be dark for me.
Out of focus yet not. I love the softness and the blur. The flower world is not stale or literal.
There’s color, and there’s color. And where there is a beautiful color for me, there is always beautiful light.
Some lovely shades of gray the last few days.
