“Bless you for all you do! You keep our hearts happy…” – Patricia Benward.
Saturday, the Cambridge Food Pantry Served the biggest crowd in its history: 67 families and 184 people. This was a surprise.
She was taking a deep breath because of all the good stuff we and others brought them. “If not for your people,” she said, “We’d be in big trouble.”
It’s easy to underestimate the power of small contributions.
However, even the most modest donations, such as $ 1.29, can make a significant difference. With less than $10, we can each provide the three essential items the pantry needs. Every little bit counts and your support is invaluable. I’m in
She spoke too soon. She’s in trouble again. After Saturday’s record-breaking crush, those same shelves she loved to see were and are empty.
She knows we can only buy some things on the Wish List, at least not at once, but she hopes we can help get three items at least back on the shelves. Your support will directly impact our ability to serve the community. Her stockpiles are mostly gone.
No one will starve, but some essential dinner plans will change. Amazon is fast; whatever we can do will arrive in a day or two, even tomorrow.
These items will be on the blog all weekend unless Sarah asks for help from others.
Sarah’s request:
Fresh Au Gracin Potatoes, 4.4 Oz, $1.49.
Four Cheese Mashed Potatoes, 4 Ounces, 4 Ounces (Pack of 8), $9.49.
Amazon Fresh, Stuffing Mix Chicken Flavor, 6 Oz, $1.29.
Below are three items I answered for people to consider over the weekend.
Juice shelves were full Saturday morning, and there were just seven left.
I’ve added two other items, a hygiene item several wives and mothers tell me is essential if possible:
One of the items when the pantry mothers have to choose between is health and food. Their children must go to school looking good and smelling good. Perhaps we can help them.
This is a reminder that you can access and browse the Cambridge Pantry Amazon Food Wish List anytime, day or night; look for the green button at the bottom of every blog post. Thanks forever and ever for the beautiful work you are doing.
You are enriching lives, restoring dignity, and filling empty stomachs.
Since this is a weekend post, I’m adding one more to our list: it’s one of the most popular and, comparatively, one of the more expensive and impossible for the pantry to get:
Armour Star Corned Beef Hash, Hearty Homestyle Canned Food, 12-14 Oz Cans, $29.48
These boxes of soup arrived yesterday from the Army Of Good.
Pantry volunteers are preparing a fund-raising lunch for this afternoon.
