It was a close call, the kind Sarah hates to see.
(Below: Today, Sarah seeks out chicken-in-water and canned ham.)
The Cambridge Food Pantry broke a record in serving families today, and some of the most essential shelves were empty; your timely support was not just incredible but critical at this moment:
“We’re entering a new realm,” she told me. “Today, we had 67 families serving 184 people! That is a record. With six new families, we better build our storage room soon.”
Knowing Sarah, she will. The New Realm Is Here.
This was a landmark moment in the new but deepening connection between the Cambridge Food Pantry and the Army of Good. The staff cheered for you, and not for the first time.
Just Forty-five minutes before the Cambridge Food Pantry opened its doors to its Wednesday serving, Sarah was frantic. The shelves of Beef Ravioli, spaghetti, and Meatballs were empty and among the most requested and loved in the pantry.
“Too bad they’re gone,” Sarah thought, feeling heavy and frustrated. She is always sorry to have let people down and has to do it constantly. We are helping. Oh, well,” she said she thought, ” and then I saw the truck pull up.” Her relief was palpable.
(Sarah fights for every single item on every single shelf. You are supporting her in a profound and meaningful way. She is a hero of mine.)
Sarah looked out the window and saw “Amazon arrived to the rescue carrying orders from the Army Of Good. “I had no Ravioli’s or Spaghetti and Meatballs in stock. The shelves were empty. These are two foods most wanted by the families who come to us. Suddenly, we got four big boxes of them from the Army Of Good. I could get them to the shelf just in time, and our guests were thrilled and grateful. This support was not just timely; it was a game-changer. I can’t express enough how much this meant to us. Thank you.
When most food pantries run out of food, the people who need it are out of luck. Sarah doesn’t accept that; she fights for every item on every shelf.
Empty shelves: Sarah is out of two crucial foods today, Monday, September 25, 2024.
Horsemen Canned Ham, Smoked, 5 Ounce (Pack of 12), $22.95.

Jon’s Request, Helping The Mothers And Babies
It’s hard to keep diapers in stock; the need is great. This is at the heart of the hard decisions the Pantry others have to make – food or diapers, many of the mothers coming to the pantry for help (and some fathers also) can afford to do both.
You’ve been heroic in supporting the Mansion.
Please help us get more diapers to the pantry; the ones on the shelves yesterday are already gone. They went in minutes this afternoon. The number of people coming to the pantry has never been more significant. Sarah is working feverishly on building a new storage room so they can stock up on the most popular items.
The baby diapers are urgent. You’ve done so much; I hate to think of these mothers giving up food for six 5 and 6 diapers.
_____
Premium Baby Diapers, Six 6, 117 Count of Disposable, Extra-Absorbent, Hypoallergenic Baby Diapers with Snug and Comfort Fit, One Sleepy Sloth, $10.99. We sent a lot of diapers to the pantry yesterday. They were all gone by 4 p.m. today.
Bargain Bonus:
Wish-Bone Light Thousand Island Salad Dressing, 15 Fl.Oz, $2.50.
Arriving in the nick of time from the Army Of Good.
Above, you can browse the Cambridge Amazon Food Wish List any time, day or night, by clicking on the green button at the bottom of every blog. Every item on the Wish List, updated many times daily, is urgently needed.
Please feel free to pick the one you’d like to help. It feels great to do good, especially with all the ugliness swirling around us. I want to think of us as a beacon of light, in a sea of mean. You give the world hope.
Earlier in the week, Sarah asked for coffee and Velveeta cheese. She got both; they arrived yesterday and should last at least a weekend.
Hi John
I don’t know if Sarah would have time for this, but would the food pantry folks be willing to sell their t-shirts as a fundraiser for the storage room? I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d like to buy a t-shirt in support of the pantry.
She’s working on it, Terri, thanks..
