Today, we’re going to a ceremony in Pownal, Vermont, on behalf of Margaret Krieger, accused of witchcraft in 1785 and sentenced to prove her innocence by being plunged into a stream. If she floated, she was a witch. If she sank and drowned, she was innocent.
Maria’s belly dancing group and others will march across a small bridge where the trial was held. The unusual thing is that one of Krieger’s accusers decided she was innocent and plunged into the freezing water to save her.
She lived six more years.

It fits the history of ever-tolerant Vermont.
This is one of the very few times where women caught up in the awful witch fever were declared innocent and served. Maria and the other dancers will walk across the bridge and then dance in her memory.
I’ve always believed in good and bad witches and am married to a good witch. As only Maria could do, she put together a witchy costume to walk and dance in. I will be there with my camera; it is never dull around here.
It’s tough to read about women who have given their lives trying to give birth or end nightmares because men in legislatures share a different faith.
It’s hard not to relate that to what women in early America suffered. Almost every white male civilization had a different way of punishing outspoken women. Some things have not changed, but women have changed quite a bit. So, I want to go with Maria today.
I hope to post some Flower Art photos.

Zip in one of his many observatories and hiding spaces
From her photos, you would never guess that Fate loves to be with sheep but refuses to herd them.
Zip is forever teasing Zinnia to play with him. Sometimes, she does, but never when there is disgusting food for her to eat.
