“Well – I made you take time to look at what I saw, and when you took time to really notice my flower, you hung all your own associations with flowers on my flower, and you wrote about my flower as if I think and see what you think I see of the flower – and I don’t.” – Georgia O’Keeffe.
Friends, a happy night tonight. Our friend Ian McCrae is going to a talent night at a local brewery to play and sing his guitar music out in public for the first time. Maria and I are excited to feed him and listen to his play. This is a big night for him, and I’m eager to be in the audience, cheering him on and wishing him well.
There are tornado warnings until 10 p.m. tonight; so far, the talent night is on.
Hello Jon Katz and Maria,
I enjoyed reading your 2022 article about emerging poet, Ian McRae. I am also inspired to look into the works of Mary Kellogg. I thought it would be fun to invite all of you to the Pawlet VT Public Library 8/17 10 AM to join us for my interactive presentation of Living a Poetic Life. I believe you already live a poetic life by the looks of your beautiful flowers.
If you’d like to share with Ian- I didn’t discover my love of writing poetry until later in life but through the support of good friends and writers groups I am on my way. I have a number of published poems and two books. Maybe he’ll integrate his poetry with his music.
Maybe I’ll see you next Saturday.!
Always captivating in so many different ways – today , your second photo immediately looked to me like a flying eagle ! I can see the energy and motion!
