Heat Wave Is Back. Not A Good Time To Be A Sheep

by Jon Katz

It’s not a good time to be a sheep; they feel the heat acutely, especially when it inches up towards 100 degrees, as they should be doing tomorrow. Today, it’s just a humid 90. The sheep find shade and don’t move much.

The donkeys don’t care; they are desert animals. Zip vanishes in this heat; we think he sleeps on the hay floor. I’m about to head out in the heat – I’m not a good boy – to get some Flower photos. I’ll stay out for as long as possible, but I need the sun to take the images I want, at least now.

I’m okay if I drink a lot of liquid and get inside in the air conditioning. Maria thinks I’m foolish, but she also understands the pull of creativity. Light is light. Ian is coming to play chess with me tonight; I told him my head might be foggy, and he asked what else was new.
