Compassion Liberation: Starting Today, Another Way To Instantly Help The Food Pantry Whenever You Want, 24/7. Today, Canned Chicken And Onion Soup, $7.93 and $6.88.

by Jon Katz

The Cambridge Food Pantry Amazon Wish List was an idea I brought to the Pantry from our work with the refugee children in Albany, Schenectady, and the Mansion.  It is a revolutionary way for non-profit organizations to let people contribute what they want when they want.

Sarah has incorporated the list in a vital new way to obtain food for the pantry that is normally unavailable. Today, another major twist is that you can access the list at any time by clicking on the green button at the bottom of every blog post. You can do this at any time, day or night.

The latest twist is that it isn’t updated every few months; the list is updated and revised daily, even hourly,  and has been a stunning success. (Above, today’s delivery from the Army Of Good.)

The success of the Wish List is a testament to the community’s generosity and support. Your active participation, from browsing the list to making contributions, has been instrumental in ensuring a steady flow of help to the pantry.

(Today’s requests are White Premium Chunk Canned Chicken Breast in Water, Fully Cooked Chicken, 4.5 Oz can (pack of 4), $7.93, and Campbell’s Condensed French Onion Soup, 10.5 Ounce Can, (Pack of 4), $6.88.

Sarah says she is entirely out of both popular items. They are essential to pantry regulars.)

People tell me they appreciate our choosing two items daily that Sarah is running out of, but they also like to browse the Wish List and add other things to it or choose things they are drawn to. I will continue to post daily emergency requests, but I agree that people should be free to look at Sarah’s wish list whenever they choose, round the clock, every day of the week.

With the added link button at the bottom of every post, accessing the Wish List has never been easier. You can make a difference anytime, day or night.

There are currently ten items on the Wish List, ranging in price from $2 to $17. Sarah works hard to keep the cost of helping the pantry as low as possible. We can put a real dent in that list while most people sleep; I love starting my day with a good deed.

It sets the tone for the whole day.

Amazon will send the items you choose to the Food Pantry, 59 Park Street, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816, by default, as they are now.

The link is the green one at the bottom right of every post on the blog (see below.). Just click on it, and thank you.

The response to Sarah’s SOS on Friday was extraordinary and is still pouring (both photos.)

We can’t thank you enough for your support, and the insertion of the daily Wish List will make contributing easier. As so many of you already know, doing good feels good. Welcome to the Compassion Revolution.

When I can’t sleep, I go to the Wish List and send something to the food pantry.

It works every time for me. Doing good is precious and rewarding. Please remember the onion soup and canned chicken. Thanks again.

  1. I don’t see the button for the food pantry on any posts today. Perhaps I missed something?
