Sunday Pantry Request: Juices $2.18, Coffee, $16.47 For Four, Tea, $16.49 For 6.

by Jon Katz

Thanks for all the food, toothpaste, dental adhesive, tampons, peanut butter, etc. You have brought light into a dark corner—hunger—and brightened lives and filled their hungry stomachs. Thanks.

Sarah sends me a request every day at odd morning hours; she doesn’t sleep, so most days, I don’t either.

Today, there were requests for juices—all less than $3—and for that very popular tea and coffee, which the pantry can never get enough of or keep on the shelves for more than a few days. We can help families through long working days and a hot summer.

Here are the requested items; all five are at the top of the Cambridge Food Pantry Amazon Wish List.

Your support is not only appreciated but crucial. It’s making a huge difference in the lives of those we serve, and we couldn’t do it without you.

Today’s list:

V8 Splash Mango Peace Flavored Juice Beverages, 64 fl oz Bottle, #2.18.

V8 Splash Orange Pineapple Flavored Juice Beverage, 64 Fl.Oz Bottle, $2.18

Happy Belly Juice Cocktail, Cranberry, 64 fl. oz pack of one., $2.19.

Stash Tea Black Tea Variety Pack Assortment, 18-20 count,  Pack of 6. $16.49

Seattle’s Best Coffee Dark Roast Ground, 12 Ounce bags (Pack of 3), $16.47

_____

These items are often requested and for a good reason. The juice is essential for the children’s start to the day and dealing with heat; the coffee is for exhausted parents (mostly single women with one or more jobs and little pay) to get going, and tea is to calm everybody’s frazzled nerves.

Please do what you can and what is comfortable for you. Even a single juice bottle will help a child and provide nourishment and energy in a hot summer. Many of these children get one or two meals daily, all their parents can afford.

Thanks for helping.
