Flower Art, No Flower Is Alone, No Human Is Alone. A Wildflower Invasion. The Colors Of Hope And Promise

by Jon Katz

It was a beautiful day to take pictures of flowers. I tried new exposures, angles, and lenses. I had to come in; it was just too hot outside. Zip skipped our afternoon meeting; it was too hot. I ran across some beautiful sunflowers and some exciting wildflowers. They mix so well together.

He was dozing in the barn, which was surprisingly calm. I’m having a new friend come over to see the farm, and Ian McRae is coming over to play chess. I beat him sometimes, but he’s ketching up with me.

I look forward to seeing you in the morning. On my birthday, I’m attending an opthomalogist’s talk about cataract surgery.

The next available appointment was in September, and the only one available was on my birthday. It’s true; there aren’t enough doctors unless you are wealthy, and then there are magically enough. I’ve got to get things ready for my chess match. I am signing out.

  1. I assume that since you are planning to go to a talk about cataract surgery, you are contemplating getting it. Thought I would share with you my wonderful experience with it. I didn’t realize how little I was seeing color until I got mine. It was the difference between an old painting that needed cleaning and the same painting after a good cleaning. I was fortunate enough some years ago to visit the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. The amazing ceiling had been recently cleaned, but one small section was left dirty so that people could appreciate even more the beauty of the colors. I was reminded of that when I got my cataract surgery. The doctor did one eye at a time, so I could compare the color vision in the “before” and “after” eyes. WOW! The surgery was easy and I have never regretted it.

  2. There is no way a person can just glance at these photos and move on. They are truly captivating. I am especially fascinated by the small white flower, how you captured it’s translucence while still keeping the other flowers muted, not only in back but in front as well. Good Lord, how does one possibly compliment the mastery and innovation you’ve achieved in such a short time?
    The sunflowers are STUNNING.
