19 June

In The Dome, Day Two, Morning At Bedlam Farm, Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Beautiful, Still.

by Jon Katz

It’s day two of the Heat Dome; I’m still quarantined, and I got out this morning for my usual morning pictures from the farm. Maria goes about her everyday business, saying hi to Zip (who isn’t Zippy in this heat), the donkeys, who always love to get brushed, and the sheep, who are hungry for old lettuce and other gourmet treats.

I’ve gone to my weekly Zoom meeting with friends and blog readers and am going to the food pantry to see some of the beautiful messages people send along with their donations. Sarah says there are lots of newcomers, as well as people who are now regulars of good. Yay! More later.

Maria put my brothel lamp together last night; I’ll show you the photos.

I got to go back later.

They are getting brushed in great heat. They don’t care.

Snacks for the sheep, of course. Heat doesn’t matter to some people.

Awful hot just after sunrise.

They were closing the gates. It’s too hot for grazing; they’ll go out tonight. I had to bring Zinnia inside; she was struggling with the heat. She’s a cold-weather dog.

First Morning Glory on Maria’s studio wall.
