The weekend has turned out to be more exciting than I expected. We started our Cambridge Pantry report operation on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, just about halfway there. We’ve replenished the list from 12 items to seven.
Seven inexpensive options remain, from $1.67 for Salad Dressing to $15.58 for eight hearty soup cans.
Last week, a record number of adults and children came to the pantry needing help feeling parents and children. I suggested we focus on the holiday weekend to replenish all 12 items that were no longer available. Sarah jumped at the idea.
As she sees the orders coming in, she will eliminate the replenished items from the Wish List so we can see the progress as it occurs. The wish list will be updated on Monday or Tuesday.
We’re trying to fill the gaps. The remaining items are on the list.
I didn’t know how it would work out, but I’m proud and grateful.
I think we might make it all the way, even though so many people are traveling, having fun, or visiting with their families.
It’s lovely to think of the less fortunate and give them hope, support, and relief. It gives special meaning to an important holiday.
“I can’t say enough about the Army of Good,” one pantry volunteer told me this morning. ‘You have done so much for us; you’ve changed everything. We are immensely grateful for your contributions.”
Your support and dedication are truly invaluable.
You can see the remaining items here. Thanks again for your humanity and support.
Sarah and Zinnia are friends, which is unsurprising for two remarkable women who love to do good.
