Mud season is early this year, with lots of rain and little snow. The world is turning upside down for all of its beauty. I went out this morning to take photos; then we went to the Farmers Market, where I scored from excellent fresh bread and a week’s worth of fresh and delicious seafood. I’ll talk about that later. The pasture is all mud; the water has no place to go.

They used to call it “lamp lightning,” and Maria is our lamplighter. She gets the first going and keeps them going. Ellie’s portrait of Lenore is honored above the downstairs wood stove.

I’m not sure if it’s time for heavy boots outside, but it seems like Spring is winning the battle of the skies. That is both beautiful and alarming.
