Color And Light, As Promised, Farm Journal, Wednesday, January 17, 2024

There is no longer any doubt about it. Flowers sustain me, lift my soul, and enrich me, especially on cold, dark, uncertain days. I’m blessed to take these photos and even happier to share them. Another storm is coming this weekend. We will be ready. Spring is getting ready to stir.

Flowers aren’t the only thing that can lift the spirits. Zip does that, too, every day.

  1. I love all of your flower pictures and particularly this purple iris, one of my favorite flowers and colors. Thank you!

  2. I have a purple iris. Not exactly like yours. But it has a story. My mother gave it to me when I was in my 60’s and she was in her 70’s. It smelled like Kool aide. I have given it to many people with the words “it was a gift to me from my Mom and I pass it to you with her love.” This year it didn’t bloom and I hope it was because I gave away all the mature plants and only had young plants left. Looking forward to spring and the chance to see the bloom and smell the Kool aide. Mom has been gone for 7 years, but I can still hear her say “Here’s an iris for you, you’re going to love the smell.” I will send you a picture if it blooms.
