Color And Light, Preparing For The Wind And Rain (And Snow?)

by Jon Katz

There is a big windstorm tonight and a good chance of losing power. The generator is ready, and so are we. First, I’m driving to the town of Shushan to pick up some newly baked 8-seed, delicious and healthy bread. Just in case, I’m putting up the color and light now, in case people need it in the morning. Stay dry and safe. The weather channels say it could be heavy snow, or light, or heavy rains, or light rains, or nothing much at all, or a devastating wind.

Flip a coin, take your pick. See you in the morning, hopefully. I start Wednesdays with my Zoom with blog readers who have become friends.

  1. Always need and welcome your color and light! Always! May you stay snug and warm and enjoy your chess games on that beautiful new chessboard and not have TOO much snow! We won’t get snow (or probably even frost) but down to near freezing past 4 nights here and we are very close to ocean……so rare for us to be this cold. Woodstove doing it’s job……and we are snug also!

    1. Sorry, neither is unwanted health advice, Cindy please don’t do it again. I’ve found minding my own business to be very healthy emotionally. I find eating what I want to be best, good eating, Jon

  2. I love these shots too, these beautiful flowers each morning bring such joy . Jon, you have such photographic versatility and talent. What you compose and then capture always touches some emotion. Also, I loved Eunice’s quote, never thought of it that way Lastly, I wish I could have learned the strength of a solid rebuff to unwanted advice early on in my life, I was a magnet for it. It would have dissolved a lot of unnecessary frustration and resentment, leaving room for better experiences.

  3. Jon,
As always you inspire me. You always reach out for more positive in a world filled with critics & hate.
Saving Simon gave me a wonderful new perspective on compassion & empathy.
    Thank you.
PS- the old adage still applies….”if you have nothing nice to say, please keep quiet”.
