Zip: Guest Appearance On The Wood Shed. He Keeps An Eye On Us

by Jon Katz

Zip, so far, stays out of the dog year. Bud stares at him obsessively, and he’s been chased once or twice by the other dogs. Today, Maria and I worked together raking leaves for her insulation project. I looked up, and Bud had climbed up to the top of the woodshed logs and was peering in on the house.

He knows where to go and where not to go. He looked sad and lonely up there. I did go out to visit him. Bud was staring at him from just a few feet away. He didn’t seem to care. More photos of this encounter later. Siv is cautious but also curious. We found him in the chicken coop earlier today, nibbling on their feed. We’ve never seen that before. Off to the movies. Later.

  1. Watch for ticks while raking leaves—they are out! Use a dryer for clothes immediately after coming inside (please trust me, too much first-hand experience with ticks).
