Robin Was Sent Home From School With A Fever: Sandy Took Over From There. Emma’s Coming Up To Help.

by Jon Katz

Sandy is a rescue dog from Kentucky, brought into New York City by a dog rescue group. She has been with Robin and the family for five years and devotes her life to watching out for Robin, sleeping with her, and being with her whenever she feels poorly and get sick. Animals can do beautiful things for people.

Robin is fine.

Another beautiful photo by my daughter. Emma is coming up to the farm alone to help me during the Columbus Day Weekend. I resist offers of help like that, and I don’t want her to feel obligated to care for me. I don’t want her ever to feel pressured to do that.

But Maria and I could use the help, and I know she wants to do this. She is staying with us and helping out in whatever way she can. I am open to it and welcome it.

She can keep an eye on me while Maria works or does her chores. She also wants to do our shopping. She might even get to know the donkeys if she feeds and brushes them; she is a cat person. She’ll go nuts for Zip.

Another beautiful photo by my daughter Emma Span.

  1. Dogs, dogs and more dogs. My husband I tried to get a rescue dog from a National rescue group. We became vetted for a foster home. Everything looked good . We chose 8 dogs and never heard from them. These dogs mysteriously disappeared. Then It dawned on me that the group had seen my age on Facebook. I am 81. I accused them of ageism. We got a dog from Iowa and the people could not be nicer. But I Had to contact the foster people myself. We have had dogs our whole life. They enrich our lives so. The moral of this story is DON’T LET ANYONE TELL YOU THAT YOU ARE TOO OLD TO DO WHAT YOU WANT. I follow your blog and Maria’s. Keep on keeping on. This dog is keeping us young.

PS….. I changed my birth date to 2023. Ha. Photos e to follow.

  2. Ruth Briggs, don’t display your age any more. That’s your business & no one else’s. You have plenty to offer & that’s all that matters. Lie if you have to.
