Zip is a very happy cat today; he is really into his new sleeping cat bed. We put it in his crate yesterday, and he has been rolling around in comfort and joy ever since.
He has nine more days (I counted wrong yesterday) to liberation, and I am sure he won’t roam the farm from Maria’s new bed in his crate yesterday.
He seems more content, friendly, and at ease every day. He’s a happy and spirited creature.
We lucked out in getting him, and I think he also lucked out. We were sad about Zinnia’s loss, and Zip reaffirms my philosophy about animal grieving: rather than moping, get another dog or cat as soon as possible.
That is the most healing thing I know of. People who love animals should take advantage of the chance to love another when they lose one and mourn. I would rather love an animal than mourn one.
We’ll wait before releasing him, but every day, I think it is more likely that he will stay. The bed was a brilliant idea of Maria’s.
She knows how to love an animal, and she knows how to live as a human.
He’s quite a character with tons of personality and lots of affection. I have no doubt he will also decimate the mouse population in the barn and keep rats from ever returning. I doubt Zip is going to leave that bed behind, he has been rolling in it all morning.
I like your way of thinking. I love my pets like family and do all I can to keep them healthy and happy. I also, because of their shorter lives, see each of them as having a role/job in my life so it is natural when one leaves another comes in. I do appreciate (in life) and mourn and miss each as an individual but fill the role with another unique individual that I will grow to love and have new experiences with. I came to this in the early years after losing a human co-worker that I considered a friend.
He looks just like a beautiful black and white cat I once had named Ziti. What a looker!
I used to have a long hook and eye latch on doors where my cat could have privacy as dogs couldn’t get through the 4″ hook &:eye gap! When I get had serious ” work” to do, like pooping or chasing mice or even eating in peace. Lovely philosophy, lovely cat!
When a CAT Had serious work to do…
