I call a flower photo like this a “splash” photo. I don’t think of it as one element but like a painter tossing paint colors all over a canvas. The garden bed is the canvas, the flowers the paint. I love to mix up the colors and soften all the boundaries.

In one sense, it’s the opposite of conventional flower photography. I guess that’s why I love doing it. I’ll keep doing it. I like the idea of “splash” photos. I see this as one mix of colors, each blending into the other.
