As often happens with sick and dying animals, it is up and down at the end, rarely a straight line. Minnie seemed to rally yesterday; she ate hungrily, moved from the front of the house to the back, and soaked up some sun (below).
Today’s a different story. It took us a while to find her curled up in the thick brush in the house’s front garden. She’s not eating today or moving much. Flo died in much the same way, rallying and then fading.
There is no question in my mind that Minnie is near the end; it is also clear that she is comfortable and not suffering. We’ll leave it there and let her die in her way. The hens, who were standing guard, have begun to avoid her. Animals always know before people do.
Yes….the last few days are usually *up and down* as you say. Minnie will dictate her wishes….and you are tuned into her. . Safe and peaceful journey, dear Minnie! I keep you all close to my heart.

She is still beautiful, even in her ending time here…..
…..And she experienced love every day that she has been with you and your wife. That’s a wonderful comfort to any animal, to have lived their life in the warmth of love. 😻
Sweet Minnie, may you go peacefully into another place, knowing you are loved!
