Sometimes, in my photography, writing, and life, I forget that less is often more and that simplicity can be the most beautiful thing. I often write too long, sometimes too often, I take too many pictures and keep wanting to do even more.
It is so easy in the creative world to confuse quantity with quality.
Simplicity is essential to me, and as the world wants and needs more and more, I want and need less and less.
I am happy with my flower photos, but today I felt this strong impulsive: taking a simple, peaceful, and beautiful photograph would be good. So I took the one above; it is one of my loveliest photos.
I want to live a simple, gentle, and quiet life. A life of grace and thoughtfulness.
Today was a good lesson for me. A flower photo doesn’t have to explode with color and light to be beautiful. This is one photo I’m going to meditate on later in the day. Less can often be more.
