The View From My Office. It Matters To Me

by Jon Katz

I wanted to share the view from my office window, closest to my computer, and to the front window. Two of the items are from the artist Matt Ross, who also happens to be our farrier; he trims the donkey’s paws. The one on the windowsill is a crow. I got it online. I might replace it with a raven.

These images comfort and inspire me when I write. They all evoke different emotions in me. The large one on the right was made from horseshoes from a farm. I’m learning I’m a bit superstitious; these things matter to me.  I work alone, and while I don’t get lonely, I sometimes need distraction. I can get lost in my own head.

  1. Jon, I LOVE this photo! I do monochromatic pen and ink renderings and work mostly from black and white photos. This is one of the finest b&w photos I’ve ever seen — it really speaks to me in a most lively way!
