Step One, Our Composting Toilet. Getting It Out Of The Box

by Jon Katz

Today, we took our new composting toilet out of its box. It looks to be about the size of our bathroom toilet now and needs no water or electricity. The first step was opening the box and pulling out the toilet.

It looks like any toilet, just more compartments to open and close.

It was simple, as promised. We had the toilet almost entirely assembled in under four minutes. We decided to use peat moss as a composting and odorless power. It is very cheap and widely available.

A lever opens the acceptable, and the moss can be pulled out in a container or bag and placed in the compost heap. Once we get the most and go through the instructions – they seem pretty simple – we’ll be ready to test it out. The assemblage was a sn, ap, and they seem to have figured out how to make this safe and easy (and odorless, too.)
