Monday Morning Photo Journal, Monday, July 17: Welcome – An Oddly Beautiful Mix Of Smoke, Rain, Fog And Mist

by Jon Katz

I got up early to get ready to go to Saratoga to get my new brace. I came outside to an oddly and eerily beautiful mix of smoke, rain, mist, and fog, a recipe I’d never seen before. We were going to go to breakfast, but our favorite place closes on Monday, so I’ll just have some toast and fresh peaches from the Moses produce stand.

Thanks once more for the lovely comments about my flower pictures. They mean a lot to me. I agree that the flowers are trying to bring out the beauty in me and the artist.

Maria lead the animals out into the South pasture today, she does what the border collies usually do, but she does it well.

The smoke, fog, and moisture are a witch’s brew; the sky is orange, my eyes sting again, and the flowers don’t care. They took another beating last night; hopefully, I’ll check on them when we get back from Saratoga with my new brace.

Fate explodes with energy; she loves the sheep too much to push them around. But she has the instincts, for sure.

Maria needs to be outdoors and in nature; we are so fortunate to have some all around us. She loves her birds, frogs, sheep, donkeys, spiders, snakes, and bugs. She loves them all.

The Imperious Hens continue their vigil around Minnie; they are always around her and never disturb her, as they used to do.

This buck was from the first Bedlam Farm. It’s the oldest thing we own.

  1. Your animals are so blessed to have you and Maria as their guardians and providers. They live in your heaven.
