The winds picked up sharply around 4 p.m.(we hurried to get the clothes off the clothesline, beautiful as it was,) and the warnings and alerts kept pouring in. The electric said they were anticipating severe storms today and this evening. We got to work.
Maria fixed the back door, which had jammed, and began moving things off the back porch, which might blow around. I hauled a five-gallon jug of gasoline out of the barn and poured it into the generator, which is plugged in and ready to go.
I’m changing. I used to love caring for my farm when I moved here, and then I got jumpy as I got older. I couldn’t help but feel more vulnerable. I’m getting stronger.
I’m getting a lot of my mojo back, I like excitement, and I like our generator. I will send the light to everyone, but we are fortunate in many ways. Still, it needs to be taken seriously. We are.
We canceled our plans for dinner, I lay down the chairs in the friendship corner, and I wished my flowers good luck. I prepared a Photo Journal to put up in case we are offline, which I expect will likely happen.
Maria and I are hurrying to blog now in case we don’t get another chance. I postponed writing a piece on the Know It All Monsters On Social Media. Needless to say, I don’t think much of them.
If you know about clouds, you know this isn’t a warm and cozy sight. The clouds are sailing across the horizon like worries, nose up and wind moving them very quickly. This means a lot of wind.
The Arish carriages are scrambling to get home, and so are a lot of workers around here. Things are shutting down. We are taking the rain and flooding seriously.
Hopefully, I’ll get to my know-it-all piece tomorrow.
We are as prepared as we can be. I’m giving thanks for the generator, and interestly, I’m having some fun, much as I used to have on the first farm when a storm came.
It can be scary, but it can also be exciting, especially when I am feeling strong and can haul heavy gasoline containers around and pour them into the generator.
Animals know a storm is coming long before we do. Lulu was nervous; she got some attention and some alfalfa chunks.
In windy storms, the chairs blow all over the yard and can be dangerous. This keeps them still.
The Raven went inside the house. I don’t want him blowing around, I would have to have him land on me in the wind.
I’m hoping the garden beds look like this in the morning. Later, and hopefully soon.
Stay safe and as dry as possible in these intense storms! Glad you are as prepared as possible!
