We lost power last night around 7 p.m., and I’m happy to say it just came back on.
We got to use our new (two years old) generator for the second time, and it worked beautifully. The Northeast and our county have largely escaped the ravages of climate change until this week; there is flooding everywhere through New England and much of New York State, especially Vermont. There is severe flooding almost everywhere.
It’s our turn to join the club, and hopefully, the flooding here will help awaken people to the truth and urgency of dealing with climate change. The heat, flooding, and fires have spread to almost all of the country, and severe flooding surrounds us. So many people are suffering.
Sadly, we still have famous political leaders who insist climate change is a conspiracy among the woke to gain political power. Perhaps they will now believe what they see out of their windows.
Back to my flowers and the work to make my blog a safe and uplifting place. I know there was damage to the flower beds. We got five or six more inches of rain yesterday and more today. I am so grateful we got our roof fixed in time. Perspective is important. I am very fortunate. It’s good to be able to walk where I want to go again, especially in a heavy rainstorm with no electric power..
It’s still dark, and I know my flowers have been damaged again; I’ll check it out when it gets light. It’s nice to be back online. Maria is an excellent partner when the power goes out, among other things.
. It is pretty close to how she would love to live – nose to nose with nature. And she is a whiz at handling the generator and figuring out how it works. It’s a very efficient bit of machinery. It keeps just about everything in the house lit and on. She’ll be stacking wood once it dries out a bit this afternoon. More rain this morning. More later. Good luck to you all, and thanks for hanging in there with us and for your kind words about my flower photos.
Jon, I love this photo! Simply stunning!
Re climate change, a local meteorologist (Iowa) got into heated discussions regarding climate change with a climate change denying viewer, and actually received a death threat.
To me, it seems obvious. We are in our 3rd consecutive year of drought.
Did Minnie survive the storm?
There was no danger to Minnie..she slept through it all dry and cozy..
Jon, your photos are beautiful, and your texts are thought-provoking.
Thank you for sharing so much of yourself and your life with us.
Thank you…
