Our day was a pleasant mix of work and play and work and play. We got up early, went food and supply shopping, had breakfast, blogged, meditated (I took some pictures, she doesn’t blog on Saturdays) went to Williamstown for a terrific Mexican lunch, went to the Williamstown Theater for a two-hour performance by stand-up comedian, Hasan Minhai.
He was terrific, funny without cruelty, thoughtful without anger, gentle without weakness. His comedy is intelligent; wise is the word that comes to mind. Minhai is well-known from Netflix and The Daily Show, and his political satire shows Patriot Act with Hasan Minhai. His show today was great; we loved it.
I laughed a lot. So did Maria.
Maria finished skirting the last wool from Asher, our biggest sheep. Next Saturday, we’ll drive it up to the Vermont Knitting Mill to be turned into yarn and sold on Maria’s blog and Etsy page.
In Bennington, we stopped at a used book store sponsored by the town library and got the first printing of one of P.D. James Adam Dalgleish’s mysteries, my favorite mystery series. I got it for $5. I’m putting aside my new Samuel Adams biography and plunging right in.
Then we came home and stopped for some ice cream on the way – it’s hot here. She asked for a baby-size cone, and they weren’t kidding. It was the size of a thimble.
Next time, we’ll ask for the child’s size, it’s a lot bigger, and they have some very good sugar-free flavors.
Maria went out to take the clothes in off of the clothesline. The work here is never really done. I planted some new flowers I got at the Moses (as in Grandma Moses) food and flower stand in nearby Eagle Ridge.
She’s checking on the animals and getting ready to toss some firewood.
I’m seeing a lot of flowers come to life, and I’m putting up some photos showing that shortly.
I love Hasan Minhaj. We saw him a year ago in Charlotte and a couple summers ago at Just For Laughs in Montreal. He is so sharp! One of my favorites is his White House Correspondence Dinner/Roast from a few years back. Glad you enjoyed him! What a treat.
Jon, it’s great to know that there is no need to say to you and Maria, “Get a life!” Live on.
