I thought long and hard about this photograph before taking it. I had to wait a few weeks until the red flowers were shrouded in broad green leaves. I wanted the red to stand out but still be smaller than the leaves.

And finally, there had to be enough red flowers to contrast with the green. Yesterday, I felt I finally had the picture that I wanted. I think of it as trying to transform flowers into art beyond simply taking their picture. This involves lot, angle, Mother nature, etc.

Finally, the composition was right.

Today I was happy with it, an experiment that worked.
