Maria goes to the pond every day to check on the ten pine trees she planted and visit the frogs she has come to know.
I can’t tell the pond frogs from the grass, but Maria knows where they are, and when she sits down to visit with them, they don’t hop in the water. It occurs to me that she can sit just like a frog. Perhaps this is why they don’t run away from her but sit quietly and visit with one another.
They think she’s just another frog.
When Zinnia jumps in the water, the frogs sometimes dive in, but not the one Maria is visiting with. She and Zinnia are friends; Zinnia even touched noses with her the other night (we think she’s her.) This sort of thing just never happens to me.
On sight, the frogs disappear into the pond.
Maria is, I am convinced, a spirit animal reborn as a human woodland elf. There are very few animals she doesn’t communicate with, speak to, or save from trouble.
“She sits just like a frog,” I thought while taking this photo. I don’t know anyone over 15 years old who can sit like that. The frog meets the frog.
I couldn’t wait to tell Maria. “It’s true,” she said, “I look like a frog!”
“Ribet, ribet, ribet”
I can sit like a frog as well, even at 62!
For me yoga has given me a great deal of flexibility.
I am impressed, good work Holly…I sure can’t..
I love that your farm is such a healthy environment that you have so many frogs! Poor things aren’t surviving in so many places where the water quality and habitat have become toxic for them. Beautiful Bedlam Farm is a haven and sanctuary for them and so many other creatures under your and Maria’s care – you are a blessing!
