I was surprised this morning when I popped into Maria’s studio to say hello and ask what she wanted for lunch.
She had that special twinkle in her eye. “I’m making some potholders inspired by your flower photos,” she said. I had no clue.
And wow, are they gorgeous. This touched me in the heart; it is a great honor.
Maria is very picky about her art, and I never once thought I’d inspire a potholder. I am very proud of that.
She is making seven of these; her vintage fabric is not huge.
They will cost $25 apiece plus shipping. She will accept advance orders – [email protected].
She started working on them this morning, they have no backing yet, but that won’t take too long. You can follow her progress on her blog, fullmoonfiberart.com.
Somebody e-mailed me this morning urging me to make flower T-shirts and sell them; I said no, thank you. But I didn’t blink at the idea of my flower pictures inspiring a potholder.
This kind of functional re-cycled art is a trademark of our lives together. Maria takes her potholders very seriously; I’m just tickled that they inspired this in her.
Maria said the potholders were triggered by my art flowers, soft pictures of flowers in their little world.
They’ll be sold on Maria’s Etsy Page if they last that long. Usually, they don’t last long at all: [email protected]. I tried to buy one, but no luck.
Well, nothing is holding people back from buying a bunch of these and make them into their own t-shirt. With Maria’s permission and autograph, of course… I love the one in the top of the page. Lovely!
I think if Maria wanted to do that, she would do it herself, but I don’t speak for her. If you wish to message her, she is [email protected].
