Art Flower Photos: In Between Thunderstorms, Playing With Color And Light. “Be Gentle,” A Flower Whispers, Color Riot And Heart Of A Storm

by Jon Katz

The rain and sun make my flowers happy; they are exploding with color and light. I’m moving things around and giving some plants to Maria, I’ve fed a few of them to the donkeys. I got off to a good start, but now I have a good feel for my garden, what works for me as a photographer, and what I need.

When I saw the red flower above, I was sure I heard it say, “please be gentle.” I took it to heart.

I just turned off the auto focus and let nature take its chances. I wasn’t disappointed by the color mix. I love capturing more than one flower at once. I guess it’s becoming a trademark.

The sun was out, and the sky turned black. I looked up as a vast black cloud cut off the light, which was mystical; I felt as if I was looking into the soul of a storm. In a few minutes, there was lightning, thunder, and rain. I guess it was the soul of a storm.
