The first wave of refugees from Myanmar that we have worked to support graduated from Bishop Gibbons High School today; they wanted me to make sure they thanked everyone for their help and support.
Both are going to college in the fall; they have worked so hard and so well to do their work, support their friends, and rebuild their lives. They will always be an inspiration to me and Maria.
Good luck and Godspeed them; they are beautiful souls and deserve a wonderful life in America.
Their dresses are traditional Karen dresses, gifts from their mothers to wear at graduation. We’ll get to know their siblings in the fall. Thanks for all of your support. Saying goodbye to them pokes my heart a bit.
