From Brooklyn – “Welcome To Mars…”

by Jon Katz

My daughter Emma sent me this photo this afternoon; it was taken in Brooklyn, just outside of their apartment. The light was so dark by early afternoon that some people were walking around the city with flashlights, and all the inside lights were turned on.

The schools shut down early in the morning.

It is bad here as well, the mountains completely obscured by a yellowish fog. The air alert is on until midnight, but the wildfire smoke from Canada is expected to be around for a few days.

  1. It’s really eerie, isn’t it? We experience this in California. And its impact on breathing can sneak up on you, and pets. Our neighbor’s dog had teal problems.
