Photo Journal, Thursday May 18, 2023: After The Freeze, A Comeback In My Garden Beds.Never Say Die.

by Jon Katz

The freeze Wednesday night was, for real, windy and very cold. And I lost about a third of my garden bed flowers. I had brought a number inside, and the rest survived (we put a tarp on them all).

We came back with a lot of colors and feeling this morning. Most of my flowers are okay, and I rushed out and got a few more to plan. I had to re-plant my Nastirtiums and lost two begonia flowers.

But I came back strong; here’s some evidence. Onward.

I took my Gerbera daises out and planted them this afternoon. I love this shade of red.

My hanging Begonia put on a show for me. It survived.

This looks suspiciously like a dahlia. I hope so. I don’t remember planting one.

A different view of the hanging Begonia, taken by the Leica. It’s delicate and graceful.

  1. Do you know the name of your hanging Begonia. I’d love to find this variety. It’s gorgeous.

  2. I believe they are called trailing begonias. I had coral ones last year and they were spectacular.
